
Reign FC falls 0-2 at Sky Blue FC

PISCATAWAY TOWNSHIP, NJ - Seattle Reign FC (0-1-4, 1 point) lost 0-2 to the Sky Blue FC (3-1-1, 10 points) Saturday evening at Yurcak Field. Danesha Adams and Lisa De Vanna both scored their first NWSL league goals for Sky Blue FC.
In the 30th minute of the match captain Christie Rampone hit in a free kick from 40 yards out. Goalkeeper Michelle Betos punched the ball out of the box, but the clearance fell to Adams' feet. Adams' quick shot deflected of the Seattle defense and into the back of the net.
It was a physical match with both teams getting opportunities inside the 18-yard box. In the 11 th minute Seattle captain Keelin Winters sent a cross into the box that was headed on by Tiffany Cameron, whose attempt went just wide of the net.
In the 19 th minute forward Kiersten Dallstream broke through the Sky Blue FC defense and beat goalkeeper Brittany Cameron to the ball in a one vs. one. Her shot deflected off a recovering defender and Sky Blue FC regained possession.
Sky Blue FC 's second goal came in the 35 th minute of the match, unassisted by Lisa De Vanna who picked the ball off the Seattle defense and beat Betos to the near post.
Despite being the first goals for Adams and De Vanna, Sky Blue FC have scored in all five matches this season.
Seattle Reign FC made the first sub in the 51 st minute of the match, replacing Winters with Teresa Noyola. Winters went down in the 4 th minute with an injury but played through the first half.
Forward Liz Bogus replaced forward Tiffany Cameron in the 60 th minute of the match and Lindsay Taylor saw her first minutes with Reign FC when she came in for Lauren Barnes in the 76 th minute.
Sky Blue goal scorer Adams was replaced in the 66 th minute by Taylor Lytle and De Vanna was replaced in the 86 th minute by Melanie Booth. Maddie Thompson came into the match for Katy Freels in the 74 th minute of the match.
Seattle pressed hard the whole match but was outshot 10 to 2 in shots on goal. The best opportunity of the second half came when Jess Fishlock beat Cameron to a through ball but was tripped up as she was trying to finish with a second touch.
Seattle Reign FC host two home matches next week at the Starfire Sports Complex in Tukwila, WA. They host the Washington Spirit (0-3-2, 3 points) on Thursday 5/16 at 7 p.m. They will see the Sky Blue FC at 6p.m. on Sunday 5/19 in a rematch of tonight's game.
