
Two RiverDogs' Pitchers Promoted to High-A Tampa

CHARLESTON, SC -The New York Yankees have announced that pitchers Taylor Garrison and Charlie Short have been promoted from the Charleston RiverDogs to the High-A Tampa Yankees.
Simultaneously, pitcher Adam Smith has been promoted to Charleston from Extended Spring Training and Derek Varnadore was activated from the disabled list.
Garrison, a 5'11", 180 pound right-hander from Murrieta, CA, tossed 13 innings and allowed two runs, one earned on five hits while striking out 16 batters and walking just three in 8 games for Charleston this year. Garrison was sporting a team best 0.69 ERA and led the team with three saves. Short was equally impressive, sporting a 0-1 record with one save and ranked second on the team in ERA at 0.71. Short threw 12.2 innings for the RiverDogs this season and surrendered just one run on eight hits to go along with 21 strikeouts and only three walks.
Varnadore re-joins the RiverDogs after making one appearance for the team back on April 6th. In Varnadore's only appearance at Greenville, he lasted two innings and gave up five runs, four of them earned on six hits in two-innings of work. He struckout two batters and walked four. Adam Smith rejoins the RiverDogs after spending last season with the Gulf Coast Yankees and the RiverDogs. Smith started this season in extended spring training after recording a combined 2-2 record with a 5.51 ERA in 13 games in relief last season.
