WHEELING, WV- The Wheeling Nailers, proud ECHL affiliate of the Pittsburgh Penguins and Montreal Canadiens, are pleased to announce that their mascot, Spike, will be attending the Relay for Life Pittsburgh Steelers Basketball Game, which is being dedicated to Randy Stephens.

The game will take place at 8:00 on Friday May 10th at the Basketball Palace on the Hill (Wheeling Park High School), with the Pittsburgh Steelers tipping off against the Ohio County Relay for Life team. This will be the fourth season that the two sides will meet up for the cause, with the Ohio County side winning two of the previous three clashes. Last season, the Steelers got on the board with a win, thanks to Charlie Batch and Antonio Brown, who both suited up for the Black and Gold during the 2012 NFL season. While Pittsburgh has yet to announce their roster for the event, the Ohio County Relay for Life team will have a connection to the Nailers, as beat writer Shawn Rine will attempt to "re-write" the record books.

While the Steelers and Ohio County game will tip-off at 8:00, the event will be a triple header, with doors opening at 4:45. The evening will begin at 5:15, with a tilt between Wheeling Park seniors and faculty, which will be followed by an exhibition game played by future Wheeling Park basketball stars at 6:00.

Spike will be in attendance for the event, keeping the crowd excited, while also doing his part to show support for a dear friend of the Wheeling Nailers family.

"Randy Stephens was a valuable part of our organization, and it is important that we show his family and friends our support, while also honoring his memory," said Director of Community Relations DJ Absalih. "This is a terrific event, and we are very thankful that Relay for Life is allowing Spike to participate in the festivities," he said.

Tickets for the game are $7 each, and may be purchased ahead of time at Wheeling Park High School, Mountain Ricer Physical Therapy, and Spic 'N Span Cleaners on National Road. All proceeds will benefit the American Cancer Society, through the Ohio County Relay for Life. The game will be played in Randy Stephens' honor, with both teams wearing wrist bands for Team Randy.
