Winnipeg Blue Bombers News Release
WINNIPEG, MB - The Winnipeg Blue Bombers have signed punter Tim Hutchison, the team announced today. Hutchison qualifies as a non-import under league rules and will compete in training camp for a spot on the roster. The team also announced the signings of import offensive lineman James Carmon and import receiver Quintin McCree. As per team policy, terms of the deals were not disclosed.
Hutchison (6-5, 206, DOB: February 18, 1988) will look to follow in the footsteps of Hamilton Tiger-Cats' punter Josh Bartel after a successful career in Aussie rules football.
Carmon (6-7, 320, Mississippi State, February 2, 1989 in Baltimore, Maryland) transferred to Mississippi State from Mississippi Gulf Coast Junior College where he was rated the nation's top junior college defensive tackle prospect and the eighth best prospect in the country. He spent his first season with the Bulldogs as a defensive tackle before making the switch to the offensive line where he started 10 of 11 games as a senior. Carmon signed with the Buffalo Bills as an undrafted free agent and was among the team's final cuts last season before joining Winnipeg's practice roster in October.
McCree (6-1, 190, Maryland, DOB: September 17, 1987 in Brandywine, Maryland) finished his career at Maryland with 61 receptions for 697 yards and two touchdowns. He started two games as a sophomore before becoming a key piece of the offence as a senior where he posted his best season, catching 40 passes for 485 yards and a touchdown. McCree's offensive coordinator that season was current Blue Bomber offensive coordinator, Gary Crowton.
