Toronto - The Toronto Argonauts Football Club will close out a successful 12th year of the award winning Huddle Up Bullying Prevention Program, presented by Tim Hortons, with a Student Summit on Tuesday, May 14. The elementary and high school S ummit brings together student leaders from across the GTA that were visited by the Argos' Huddle Up program throughout the 2012/2013 academic year. This year, the program featured 100th Grey Cup champions Matt Black, Andre Durie, Joe Eppele, Andrew Jones, David Lee, Wayne Smith, Chris Van Zeyl and Jordan Younger.

New for 2013, the Student Summit will allow high school students to receive community service hours as they will lead discussions and conduct surveys with the elementary school students. The S ummit will also feature a discussion panel made up of Argos players, cheerleaders and program staff. Students will have an opportunity to ask questions of the panel and gain a better understanding of how bullying affects people of all ages.

Over 200 students and teachers will brainstorm and share ideas that helped keep their schools safe from bullying. Toronto Argonauts' Director of Education & Community Programs, Jason Colero will address the large group, while Argos players and members of the Argos Cheerleaders will facilitate issue-based breakout sessions.

The Huddle Up Bullying Prevention Program, presented by Tim Hortons, uses the personal stories of Toronto Argonauts football players to encourage friendship, inclusion, and reduce or eradicate bullying. Annually, the Huddle Up program reaches approximately 35,000 students, and 700 of their parents, with an impactful message that was developed in conjunction with the Canadian Safe School Network. Over the last decade, Huddle Up has reached over 500,000 students across the GTA ranging in age from 8-18. In 2009, the Huddle Up program became recognized on the Ministry of Education's Registry of Bullying Prevention Programs. The Argonauts are the only Canadian sports team to have a program registered. In its 12th year, the Argos Huddle Up Bullying Prevention Program continues to be a front runner within schools in raising awareness on bullying and taking steps to prevent bullying.
