Frederick Keys News Release
FREDERICK, Md. - The 18th Annual Frederick Keys Charity Golf Tournament presented by Pain & Spine Specialists of Maryland will be held Monday, May 20, at Musket Ridge Golf Club in Myersville. All proceeds from the event will go to Frederick Keys Care, the Keys' charity program.
Golfers can sign up for the event by contacting Tournament Director Branden McGee at 301-815-9916. Foursomes are still available. Golfers must register prior to the day of the event.
Sign-in for the tournament will begin at 7:45 a.m. and light breakfast refreshments will be provided by Wegmans. The driving range and putting green will open at that time. The tournament will begin at 9 a.m. and conclude around 2:30 p.m., when lunch provided by Buffalo Wild Wings will be served in the clubhouse. During lunch, a silent auction featuring autographed sports memorabilia, tickets, culinary experiences and more will take place, recipients of this year's Frederick Keys Care grants will be honored and awards will be handed out to the day's best golfers.
There will also be a putting contest held during the charity tournament with a cash prize awarded to the winner.
Frederick Keys Care, also known as the Joel A. Stephens Memorial Fund and formerly known as Joel's Kids, is part of The Community Foundation of Frederick County's Universal Grant Application funding program that takes place in the fall of each year. The Memorial Fund is named in honor of former Baltimore Orioles minor league player Joel Stephens, who passed away in 1998 at age 22 after losing his battle with colon cancer.
This year's Keys Care grants recipients are the Boys and Girls Club of Frederick County, Delaplaine Visual Arts Education Center, Housing Authority of the City of Frederick and Maryland Shakespeare Festival. Each non-profit organization provides direct services to the youth and young adults of Frederick County.
In the 18 years of the Keys Care Golf Tournament, more than $100,000 has been raised for the Joel A. Stephens Memorial Fund. To register for the tournament or for more information, contact Branden McGee at 301-815-9916. For those unable to attend the tournament who would like to make a donation to Frederick Keys Care, contact The Community Foundation at 301-695-7660 or donate online at www.cffredco.org by selecting the Frederick Keys Care Fund.
