
Otters Trade For Franchise All Time Saves Leader

(EVANSVILLE, INDIANA) - The Evansville Otters are bringing back closer Eric Massingham, who has more saves (43) than anyone else in franchise history.
The Otters receive Massingham from the Rockland Boulders of the Can-Am League for two players to be named later. The right-handed pitcher began the 2012 season with Evansville going 4-2, with a 2.86 earned run average and 21 saves. Massingham was then rewarded with a trade at the end of the season to Fargo Moorhead and the Otters are glad to have their closer back.
He began his career playing two seasons for the Philadelphia Phillies organization and he most recently won the Australian Baseball League Championship this winter with the Canberra Calvary.
The Evansville Otters also signed two players this week from the Frontier League tryouts in Sauget, Illinois. Evansville drafted left-handed pitcher Jason Ridenhour in the first round and also selected catcher Obed Quiles in the second round.
Additionally, the Otters also placed infielder Greg Fontenot and outfielders DeAngelo Mack and Matt Sheely on the suspended list.
On Thursday, the Otters also signed pitcher Blake Monar, who is a Rockport native, and catcher Jamie Del Valle.
The Otters will be having an exhibition game that benefits Jacob's Village on Friday, May 10 against the Southern Illinois Miners . First pitch will be at 6:35 p.m. CDT at historic Bosse Field . Tickets are $4 for general admission or $6 for reserve seats. All ticket proceeds will go to local charity Jacob's Village. The Evansville Otters season starts on Friday, May 17 against the Normal CornBelters . The year will feature 51 home games including seven scheduled doubleheaders at Historic Bosse Field.
