Idaho Falls Chukars News Release

In an effort to help fund capital improvement projects at Melaleuca Field, the Idaho Falls Chukars are seeking donations today as part of the "Idaho Gives" online program. To donate, visit http://idahogives.razoo.com/story/Projects-At-Melaleuca-Field

In an effort to limit cost overruns on the Melaleuca Field project, elements from the original ballpark plans had to be reduced in scale or eliminated altogether. The two most notable areas of Melaleuca Field that had to be eliminated from the original design were the replacement of the home run fence, and the construction of group patio areas atop each of the restrooms. Both capital projects are important to the long term plans for a successful Melaleuca Field.

The Home Run Fence was built decades ago, and is truly in need of replacement. The two patio areas that were to be constructed atop each of the restroom structures were seen as non-essential at the time, but would undoubtedly add to the atmosphere of the ballpark. With over 100,000 visitors per year to Melaleuca Field, new and exciting social gathering places like these proposed patio areas would be a huge asset to all user groups. They would enable businesses and organizations to host events in a unique and very positive environment. This would result in more visitors, more sponsorship opportunities, more hospitality options, and more revenue.

Melaleuca Field is the city's premier gathering venue. It enables everyone in the community, and the area, the opportunity to enjoy America's National Pastime in an atmosphere that Idaho Falls can take great pride in. Replacement of the home run fence is long overdue, and the addition of the patios will provide a tremendous boost to the overall experience to the park.

"Idaho Gives" is supported by the "The Razoo Foundation", which is a 501(c)(3) public charity that exists to promote and provide online charitable giving solutions that support a new era in philanthropy.
