New Britain Rock Cats News Release
New Britain, CT- The New Britain Rock Cats scored three times in the first inning and starter Logan Darnell hurled seven innings of shutout ball as the Rock Cats beat the Harrisburg Senators, 4-0 at New Britain Stadium. It was New Britain's sixth win in nine games and third shutout win this season.
The Rock Cats put together a 2-out rally against Senators starting pitcher Brian Broderick. Josmil Pinto ripped an RBI single into left field scoring Danny Santana and after Danny Ortiz singled, Reynaldo Rodriguez clubbed a 2-run double off the left centerfield wall.
Darnell worked around a bases loaded situation with one out in the second inning and got a double play ground ball by Sean Nicol. The lefty then cruised over the next five innings while earning his third win of the season the quickest game of the season, just two hours and one minute.
The Rock Cats added a fourth run on a solo home run by Dan Ortiz, who blasted a long ball down the right field line, his third homer of the season. Aaron Thompson worked the final two innings of the game.
The Rock Cats wrap up the homestand on Thursday morning at 10:35 AM. B.J. Hermsen will pitch for New Britain.
