New Britain Rock Cats News Release

New Britain, CT- The New Britain Rock Cats were defeated by the Harrisburg Senators, 6-2 at New Britain Stadium on Tuesday night. It was the first time the Nationals affiliate defeated the Rock Cats in five games this season. The Senators scored four times off Alex Meyer in the fourth inning to earn their 12 win of the season. The Rock Cats made it a 4-2 game with a pair of runs in the 6th but Justin Bloxom's 2-run home run provided insurance for the visitors in the 8th.

The Twins top pitching prospect allowed a bases loaded walk and then a 2-run single by Jarad Head to take a 3-0 lead in the 4th. Justin Bloxom followed with a sacrifice fly. Meyer would settle down and retire 10 of the final 11 batters faced but was given his first loss in the Eastern League. He finished with 8 strikeouts which tied a season-high.

The Rock Cats scored their first run on a dropped popup by second baseman Ricky Hague in the 6th inning and later scored on a bases loaded walk by Reynaldo Rodriguez.
