Rock Cats Beat Senators 16-8 at New Britain Stadium Monday Night

New Britain, CT- The New Britain Rock Cats beat the Harrisburg Senators 16-8, Monday night at New Britain Stadium. The Rock Cats did all their damage in just two innings. A ten-run 4th inning and a six-run 7th inning were enough to beat the Senators for the fourth straight time this season. The win was New Britain's fifth in seven games. The Rock Cats have scored 33 runs in their last two games against Harrisburg.

The Senators scored four runs in the second inning off starter Trevor May. Destin Hood drove in the first run of the game on this wild night on a single. Sandy Leon followed with a 2-run double. The final run of the frame came home on a ground ball double play. Harrisburg made it 5-0 with a run in the 3rd on a single by Justin Bloxom.

The Rock Cats got their bats going in the bottom of the 4th inning and would not be denied. New Britain began the frame with six consecutive hits before an out was recorded. Danny Ortiz brought in New Britain's first run with a hard single to centerfield followed by Reynaldo Rodriguez's RBI double. James Beresford then ripped a 2-run single pulling New Britain to within a run at 5-4. A Jonathan Goncalves double put runners at second and third and chased Harrisburg starter Paul Demny from the game. Trevor Holder came in and allowed a 2-run double to Antoan Richardson putting the Rock Cats ahead for good. New Britain added three more runs and scored a total of 10 runs on 11 hits in the 4th inning. Beresford had a pair of 2 RBI singles in the frame.

Harrisburg scored three more times in the 5th inning and knocked Rock Cats starter Trevor May from the game pulling within two runs at 10-8. However, the Rock Cats scored six more times in the 7th inning and went on to win 16-8. Blake Martin earned the win.

The Rock Cats and Senators continue the 4 game series on Tuesday night at New Britain Stadium at 6:35 PM. Twins top pitching prospect Alex Meyer will start for New Britain.
