RedHawks Sign Stanton; Burg Signs with Marlins

FARGO, ND - One player in, another already out.

The Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks have signed RHP Taylor Stanton while C/OF Alex Burg has signed a contract with the Miami Marlins organization, the club announced today.

Stanton, 25, spent the 2012 season between the High Desert Mavericks of the California League (High-A) and the Jackson Generals of the Southern League (AA). With High Desert, he was 6-5 with a 5.17 ERA in 24 games (15 starts). Stanton pitched 108.0 innings and allowed 67 runs (62 earned) on 132 hits. He struck out 79 batters and walked 21. At Jackson, Stanton was 3-2 with a 5.53 ERA in eight games (four starts).

Stanton began his professional career in 2008 after being selected by the Seattle Mariners in the 26th round of the draft. In his five-year career, Stanton is 32-27 with a 4.55 ERA in 118 games (74 starts). He has struck out 380 batters and walked just 127 in 495.0 innings.

Burg will report to the Marlins extended spring training this week and will then be assigned to a team within their organization.

REDHAWKS NOTES...

- The RedHawks have released 3B Eric Campbell and RHP Kyle Dahman. Both players have retired from professional baseball.

- The RedHawks will open training camp on Saturday, May 4. Time and location of the first workout will be determined later this week.
