Larry Walker Headed to Scotiabank Field

(Scotiabank Field at Nat Bailey Stadium - Vancouver, B.C.) - The Vancouver Canadians are proud to announce that Canadian baseball great Larry Walker will be at Scotiabank Field at Nat Bailey Stadium on Tuesday, August 13th, 2013 as part of the 6th annual Superstar Series presented by The BC Sports Hall of Fame and Blakes.

Walker, from Maple Ridge, B.C., spend 17 years in Major League Baseball beginning with the Montreal Expos (1988-94) before shifting to Colorado (1995-2004) and St. Louis (2004-05). In 1997, Walker would hit .363 with 49 home runs and 130 RBI with the Rockies. In 1999, Walker would hit a career-high .379 with 37 home runs and 115 RBI.

The 17-year veteran finished his sparkling career with seven Gold Gloves, three Silver Slugger Awards, was named an All-Star five times and won the National League Most Valuable Player Award in 1997. As well, our country has recognized Walker's accomplishments naming him the recipient of the Lou Marsh Trophy in 1998 as Canada's Top Athlete.

Recently, Walker was named an Assistant Coach for Team Canada at the 2013 World Baseball Classic and continues to work with a handful of Major League clubs as a guest instructor throughout the season.
