Kingston-The Kingston Frontenacs were recognized with two separate awards by the Canadian Diabetes Association during their annual Volunteer Awards Ceremony in Kingston last week. The Frontenacs were recognized for their outstanding partnership with the organization and the club's General Manager, Doug Gilmour was personally honoured with an award for his inspiration in South Eastern Ontario.

"We are honoured to be recognized by the Canadian Diabetes Association," said Justin Chenier, Executive Director of Business Operations with the Kingston Frontenacs. "Helping community causes are very important to our entire team, and we really try to help in any way we can."

The Kingston Frontenacs Hockey Club created Fronts Cares Foundation to partner with local charities and associations to raise funds and awareness for local causes. One that hit close to home for the Hockey Club was the Canadian Diabetes Association. This past year the Fronts dedicated their season to the Diabetes Association by hosting a series of events, including a game at the end of the season. Part of the proceeds from ticket sales went to the Diabetes Association.

The Frontenacs will continue to integrate the Fronts Cares Foundation into their upcoming season.

"We have some pretty ambitious plans to continue to raise funds and awareness for local causes," said Chenier. "Being this city's team means being a part of this community, and we take that commitment to heart, the way our fans take the pride of cheering for our team to heart."
