JUPITER, Fla. - Despite a season-high 16 hits, the Hammerheads lost the series rubber match against the Stone Crabs 7-4 in 12 innings Saturday night at Roger Dean Stadium.

Trailing 4-3 with two outs in the bottom of the ninth, Josh Adams singled home pinch-runner Isaac Galloway from second base to send the game into extra innings.

The Hammerheads had base runners in the 10th, 11th and 12th innings, but failed to score each time. Ryan Rieger was caught trying to steal second base in the 10th. Teammate Austin Barnes was gunned down attempting to do the same in the 11th.

Charlotte broke the tie with a two-run double off the bat of Hector Guevara in the top of the 12th inning. Alejandro Segovia later singled home a run to widen the gap to three runs. Austin Hubbard pitched a scoreless frame in the bottom half to record his second save of the season.

The Hammerheads jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first on Austin Nola's two-run double. They added another in the fourth thanks to a fielding error on Stone Crabs shortstop, Jake Hager, allowing Daniel Pertusati to reach base and Ryan Goetz to score from third.

Of the 16 hits Jupiter recorded, only one of them - Nola's two-run double in the first - went for extra bases. The Hammerheads hit 3-for-16 with runners in scoring position and left the bases loaded in the fourth and seventh innings. They stranded a total of 14 base runners on the night.

Adams and Rieger had three hits each in the loss. Rieger now has six multi-hit games this season, and at least one hit in 12 of 15. Ryan Fisher went 1-for-4 with a walk and a run scored, his fifth in the last seven games.

Jose Urena started the game for the Hammerheads, allowing three earned runs on four hits and two walks in five innings. He struck out five. Through 18.2 innings this season, Urena owns a 3.38 ERA.

After playing their last nine games at Roger Dean Stadium, the Hammerheads will travel to Bradenton tomorrow to kickoff a three-game set with the Marauders at 1:00 p.m. LHP Justin Nicolino - who tossed five scoreless innings of one-hit ball in his last outing - will start for Jupiter. RHP Robby Rowland will take the mound for Bradenton.
