Frontenacs Business Staff Scout Game Day Experiences with OHL and NHL Clubs

Kingston Frontenacs News Release

While some might expect sports teams to pack it in at the end of the season, for the Kingston Frontenacs, the exact opposite is true. The business operations staff are gearing up for a busy summer and working hard to prepare the 2013-14 season. They also spent some time doing what their counterparts in the hockey operations side of the business have been doing for years: scouting out what other teams are doing.

The Frontenacs business staff are committed to giving our fans the best possible in-game experience, so they've hit the road and travelled to several arenas to see what can be improved. There have been numerous trips to Ottawa, Oshawa, Bellville, Kitchener, London, and Toronto. It is important for the Frontenacs to see what other clubs are doing to engage their fans. Win or Loose, the business staff wants to provide fans with the best in game experience on and off the ice.

One of most important and influential scouting trips was with the Toronto Maple Leafs. Justin Chenier, Executive Director of Business Operations and Jared Ginsburg, Manager of Sales and Marketing had the opportunity to job shadow the Maple Leafs game day staff.

"It was great to see what teams do at the NHL level," said Ginsburg. "We plan on implementing many of these ideas with the Frontenacs."

While the on and off ice product with the Frontenacs has changed for the 2012-13 season, it's a constant game of improving what the teams delivers to the fans.

"We take the approach that we deliver 2.5 hours of entertainment interrupted by 60 minutes of hockey," said Chenier. "Team win and lose, that's a fact in sports. The product we deliver to our fans always has to be a winning product."

This summer the Frontenacs are introducing the first ever street marketing team. The Frontenacs Road Krew will be travelling around Kingston and the surrounding areas to show their support back to the community, including player appearances, prize giveaways, and merchandising. More information, including partnering sponsors and complete experience details will be released later this spring. The Frontenacs Road Krew will attend fundraisers, golf tournaments, and fun fairs.
