Players of the Week
Pitcher- LHP Adam Morgan*, Lehigh Valley... In two starts- 1-0, 1.29 ERA (2 ER, 14.0 IP), 9 H, 2 BB, 9 SO for the week... 4/12 vs Syracuse- W, 8 IP, 3 H, 1 BB, 4 SO, his first triple-A win in only his eighth start above single-A... 1-for-3 as a hitter, first-career RBI... Morgan faced 28 batters on the night; recording 22 four-pitch outs ... Retired the lead-off hitter in all 8 IP, topping out at 93 on the gun... Honored by the International League as the IL Pitcher of the Week for the week of April 8-14... The 23-year-old lefty was a 3rd round selection in the 2011 draft out of the University of Alabama and signed by Mike Stauffer.
Player- 1B Jim Murphy, Reading*... Batted .381 (16-for-42) in 10 G with 8 R, 5 2B, 2 HR and 10 RBI... .545 with RISP (6-for-11)... After a hitless, 0-for-4 Opening Day, Murphy roared back with a nine-game hitting streak which is currently tied for the longest active streak in the Eastern League... At time of print, Murphy is in the lead or tied for the organization lead in runs, hits, total bases (27) and multi-hit games with six... The 27-year-old was a 17th round selection in 2006 out of Washington State University and signed by Dave Ryles.
Lehigh Valley IronPigs- International League North Division...4-5, 4th place
LHV is home to six (Joseph -3, Pettibone*-4, Morgan*-5, Martin-6, Asche*-7, Ruf*-9) of the top ten prospects in the Phillies organization as ranked by Baseball America... First W of 2013 came in walk-off fashion, a 5-4 W over Syracuse (LHV led the IL in 2012 with 13 walk-off W's, a franchise record)... 2B Cesar Hernandez* went 4-for-6 including the game winning walk-off single in the 11th inning... Hernandez accounted for six-multi-hit games this week on his way to a .389 AVG... OF Darin Ruf*, hitting .286 with 5 2B and 4 RBI to begin the season, had a seven-game hitting streak snapped on 4/14 vs Syracuse... That hitless night also snapped Ruf's streak of reaching base safely in 31 consecutive MiLB games, a streak which began back on 8/11/12... C Tommy Joseph led the team in RBI with eight, also slugged his first career triple-A HR off recent Red Sox call up Alex Wilson of Pawtucket... 3B Cody Asche* belted his first triple-A HR off Ruby De La Rosa... RHP Justin De Fratus* (4.1 IP), LHP Cesar Jimenez (5.2 IP) and LHP Joe Savery* (4.2 IP) have combined for 14.2 IP of scoreless relief to begin 2013; dating back to 2012 Savery has not allowed a run over his last six appearances (8.2 IP).

Top prospect Jesse Biddle* went 1-1, 3.75 ERA (5 ER, 12.0 IP) and picked up the W in his first double-A start going 6.0 IP, scattering 2 H, 1 R and striking out 6... RHP Seth Rosin, who was acquired last summer in the Hunter Pence deal, is 1-0, 1.80 ERA (2 ER, 10.0 IP) with 11 SO and only 3 BB... RHP Brody Colvin has looked strong early on, 1-0, 3.97 ERA (5 ER, 11.1 IP)... RHP Kyle Simon, 0-0, 0.00 ERA (6.1 IP), who is 3-for-3 in SVO, has pitched with the bases loaded and 1 out in an inning three times, allowing only one run to score... Former #1 pick (24th overall) in 2008 Anthony Hewitt* is batting .345 (10-for-29) with 6 R, 2 2B, 3B, 5 SB and 5 RBI through nine games...
SS Edgar Duran* is batting .300 (9-for-30) with 4 2B and a HR... Duran is 3-for-6 with 7 RBI with RISP... 2B Albert Cartwright batting .325 (13-for-40) with a HR.
Clearwater Threshers- Florida State League North Division...5-5, T-3rd place
Since beginning the season hitting .143 (2-for-14) over his first four games, 3B Maikel Franco* is batting .357 (10-28, 6 2B, 2 HR, 9 RBI) over his last six... OF Aaron Altherr* had an eight-game hitting streak (4/5-4/13) in which he hit .467 (14-30) with 8 R, 5 BB, and 3 SB... 1B Chris Serritella*, who made the jump from Williamsport to Clearwater, skipping Lakewood, was 4-for-6 in an extra-inning win over Dayton on 4/10... RHP Perci Garner*, 2nd round selection in the 2010 draft, is 1-0 with a 1.50 ERA (2 ER, 12.0 IP) through two starts... Garner's first start of 2013 saw him allow only a single base runner over 6.0 IP, striking out 7 in a no-decision vs Dunedin.... LHP Nick Hernandez*, a 2010 mid-season South Atlantic League All-Star, who hasn't pitched since 2010 because of injury, is 1-0, 2.45 ERA (3 ER, 11.0 IP), 9.82 SO/9.0 IP (12 SO, 11.0 IP) through two starts.
Lakewood BlueClaws- South Atlantic League North Division...2-9, 7th place
Roman Quinn*, the #2 ranked prospect in the Phillies system by Baseball America has six stolen bases in seven chances... Quinn's 30 SB in 2012 were tied with Jimmy Rollins for the most in the Phillies organization despite playing only 66 games at short-season Williamsport... Quinn batted .293 (12-for-41) for the week which included two doubles and an inside-the-park HR... Carlos Tocci, the #10 prospect in the Phillies organization by Baseball America, and at 17-years-old, the youngest player to ever put on a BlueClaws jersey, had the game-winning hit in LWD's first W of 2013... OF Brian Pointer* gunned down Kannapolis' Kale Kiser at the plate for the final out in LWD's walk-off win... 3B Mitch Walding* got off to a hot start hitting .400 (8-20) in the first six games of the season... 1B Art Charles finished the week strong, hitting .400 (6-15) over his last four contests... Last year's #1 pick Shane Watson is 0-0, 3.00 ERA (4 ER, 12.0 IP) BB, 9 SO through two starts... Watson allowed only two hits over 6.0 IP in his first start of 2013.
