Oshawa, Ontario - Oshawa avenged past playoffs in Game 5 on Good Friday, eliminating the Niagara IceDogs with a 3-2 victory, before a crowd of 5,377 at the General Motors Centre. Boone Jenner had a breakout performance tallying twice, while Bradley Latour's second period goal proved to be the difference maker, holding up as the game winner. Matt Petgrave also provided a multi-point performance, and Daniel Altshuller made 18 saves in the win. The Generals now move onto Round 2, and while their opponent has yet to be determined, tickets go on sale Monday at 10 AM at the GMC Box Office.

Boone Jenner burst onto the scene in the first period, scoring 2, giving the Generals a 2-1 lead.

Oshawa's captain set the tone seconds into the game, splitting the defense, forcing Christopher Festarini to make a glove-hand save.

The Generals cashed in at 9:38, courtesy of the power play. After Matt Petgrave's active stick kept the puck in the zone, the defenseman found Jenner who roofed his first of the series.

Up 1-0, Generals' goaltender Daniel Altshuller provided stability, stopping Steven Shipley from the slot. Still, Niagara's power play found the equalizer as IceDogs' captain, Ryan Strome, buried his second of the playoffs. Hitting the zone with speed, Strome ripped a far-side wrister, tying the game at 18:59.

Never deflated, Jenner recaptured Oshawa's edge with seconds to go in the frame. Driving in on goal, Jenner redirected Scott Sabourin's shot from the corner past Festarini, sending the Generals into the second period, up 2-1.

The Generals earned temporary breathing room in the middle twenty, but the IceDogs answered, making for a tight horse race.

Oshawa extended their lead at the 6 minute mark; Bradley Latour trailed and rifled his third of the series, a wrist-shot through traffic, giving the Generals a 3-1 cushion.

Hanging tough, Niagara responded late in the frame. Seconds after Altshuller made a sparkling save on a point-blank deflection, Carter Verhaeghe hammered home is second of the playoffs, setting the stage for a tightly contested third. After 2, the Generals led 3-2, outshooting Niagara, 21-14.

The Generals smoked into the third period, turning Niagara's zone into a shooting gallery, ripe with scoring opportunities. Jenner came closest, ringing the crossbar, but miraculously, the puck stayed out of the net.

In the final minute, Niagara pulled their goalie, earned a power play, and looked to tie it. Down 2 skaters, the Generals cleared the zone, killed off the clock, and stamped their ticket to the second round.

Boone Jenner and Bradley Latour garnered the first and second star selections.

Oshawa outshot Niagara, 35-20.

With Round 1 now complete, the playoffs are heating up, with tickets for Generals' home dates set to go on sale this Monday April 1st at the General Motors Centre Box Office. Be first to secure your seats to watch the Generals as they march closer towards the ultimate prize.
