CHICAGO, March 27, 2013 - Sky Head Coach & General Manager Pokey Chatman announced today that the team has signed 6-2 forward Michelle Campbell to a training camp contract. Campbell is currently playing for Tarsus Bld in the Turkish League. Per team policy, contract details have not been released.

"I'm looking forward to Michelle bringing her blue collar approach to training camp. She has always been a physical, tough minded player that got the job done on the defensive end, and over the past couple of years has done a nice job of developing her offensive game." stated Coach Chatman.

Campbell led the EuroLeague in offensive rebounds (3.7) for the 2012-2013 season playing for Tarsus Bld. She also ranked fifth in field goal percentage (55.9%) and fourth in double-doubles (4). In the Turkish League, Campbell is currently averaging 13.8 points per game and 8.2 total rebounds per game.

"I am very excited for the opportunity to become a part of the Chicago Sky family," said Campbell. "With my experience of having played against many WNBA players in Europe, along with my hardworking mentality, I believe that I can help the Sky do very well this season."

Campbell is a graduate of Rutgers University where she was named Most Improved Player in the Big East Conference (2005). Averaging 8.2 points per game and 5.4 rebounds per game, she helped advance the squad to the NCAA Sweet Sixteen in 2006.

Campbell has played for several professional teams throughout Europe. She also briefly joined the Detroit Shock in 2008 before returning to Europe to suit up for Turkish Club Ceyhan Bld. Following her return to Turkey, Campbell was named to the 2009 All-Star Team and received All-Turkish League Honorable Mention as part of Ceyhan Bld.

Campbell acquired Turkish citizenship and assumed the name Melisa Can in 2010 before joining Galatasaray S.K. During the 2011-2012 season, she averaged 5.3 points per game, 3.3 rebounds per game. She signed with Tarsus for the 2012-2013 European season.
