
Halifax Pushes Saint John to Brink

SAINT JOHN - The Saint John Sea Dogs have been pushed to the edge of elimination as the Halifax Moosheads took a 6-1 decision in Game 3 of their opening round series in the 2013 President Cup playoffs.
Jurij Repe scored the lone Saint John goal. Sebastien Auger stopped 40 shots in the loss.
Stephen MacAulay and Jonathan Drouin each had two goals and Andrew Ryan, Martin Frk also added singles for the Mooseheads. Zachary Fucale stopped 20 as the Mooseheads took a commanding 3-0 series lead.

The Mooseheads played hard out of the gate. MacAulay returned to Harbour Station opened the scoring just 1:30 into the game.
Auger made several big saves early to keep things interesting. The teams exchanged bench minor's for too many men on the ice in the second half of the frame, but neither side could capitalize with the extra man.
Ryan made it 2-0 at 17:33 of the opening frame with his first of the postseason.
The Sea Dogs held Halifax to just nine shots in the first.
Frk pulled ahead in the playoff goal scoring race with his sixth of the postseason at 2:38 of the second period.
Less than two minutes later, MacAulay added his second of the night, giving Halifax a 4-0 lead.
Saint John got one back off the stick of Repe, capitalizing on the power play. Repe's point blast beat a screened Fucale at 8:08, making it 4-1 on the Slovenian's first of the playoffs.
Drouin finally found the goal column in the postseason, getting his first at 11:16 of the second.
Shots in the frame heavily favoured Halifax at 23-7.
MacAulay took a five-minute major penalty for checking to the head early in the third, but the Mooseheads killed it off.
Drouin scored a shorthanded, breakaway goal at 5:41 of the third to put the game out of reach at 6-1.
