IceDogs Fall to Visiting Whalers 7-1

Thursday night hockey at the Jack saw the Niagara IceDogs fall to the visiting Plymouth Whalers 7-1.

The first period of the matchup between the visiting Plymouth Whalers and the Niagara IceDogs saw both teams fighting hard for the go ahead goal. After twenty minutes of play, the game was scoreless, with the shots on goal 13-11 in favour of the Plymouth Whalers.

The second period of play saw the Whalers striking early as they netted their first goal at 1:32 into the period. They would quickly net three more to stretch their lead to 4. Despite pressure from the IceDogs, the Whalers would hold onto their 4 goal lead heading into the third period. The shot total at the end of the period was 22-19 for the Whalers.

In the third period, the Niagara IceDogs continued to face offensive pressure from Plymouth. The Whalers would net two more goals before the halfway mark of the period. Late in the game, Brett Ritchie, assisted by Ryan Strome and Steven Shipley, would give Niagara their first goal. Unfortunately, Plymouth would respond barely a minute later to make the final tally 7-1 in favour of the Whalers. The final shot totals were
