CHICAGO, Feb. 27th, 2013 - The Chicago Sky has named the Downers Grove South varsity girls' basketball team as this week's "Chicago Sky Girls High School Basketball Team of the Week" presented by Under Armour.

The Downers Grove South High School Girls Basketball Team has been a constant fixture in the playoffs for the past three seasons and this season they were once again successful in earning a playoff spot. The Mustangs finished in 3rd place in their conference with a 14-13 record and advanced to the regional semifinals.

For the past 5 years the Mustangs have also shown consistency in their efforts to assist in the local community. The Mustangs host an annual fundraiser titled 'Shoot for a Cure' and at the 2013 event, hosted on January 26th when they took on Hinsdale South High School, they raised $4,500 for the Kay Yow Breast Cancer Research Fund. Members of the team also spend time each week tutoring students at the school. The Mustangs demonstrate that giving back to the community is as important to their goal of success as is winning and they are building a positive tradition at Downers Grove South High School.

As a "Chicago Sky Girls High School Basketball Team of the Week" award winner, the team will be provided a complimentary Team Night Out ticket package to the 2013 Sky Youth Sports Night game at Allstate Arena, where they will have the opportunity to watch the world's best female basketball players. During the game, they will be honored on court and will receive an award to recognizing their accomplishments.

The Sky will recognize a varsity girls "High School Basketball Team of the Week" award winner every week until March 27th, 2013. For more information or to nominate a team for the "Chicago Sky Girls High School Basketball Team of the Week," visit www.chicagosky.net .
