Connecticut Sun News Release

UNCASVILLE, Conn. (February 21, 2013) - The Connecticut Sun announced today it has signed Ashley Walker, Natasha Lacy and Latoya Williams to training camp contracts.

As per team policy, terms were not released.

Lacy is a 5-foot-10 guard who has played 65 career WNBA games with the Washington Mystics, Los Angeles Sparks and Tulsa Shock over the past three seasons. She had 77 points, 25 assists and 42 rebounds in 20 games last season before she was waived by the Mystics on August 26th. Lacy was originally drafted by the Detroit Shock out of Texas El Paso in 2008, but did not make the team. She did not play in the WNBA in 2009, but has extensive international playing experience.

Walker is a 6-foot-1 forward out of the University of California who was selected by the Seattle Storm in the first round (12th overall) of the 2009 WNBA Draft after finishing her collegiate career as the only Cal player in program history to record 1,000 points, 800 rebounds, 200 assists and 100 blocks. Walker was limited to 13 games in 2009 because of a broken bone in her foot, and was the last player waived by Seattle in 2010. She played two games for the Tulsa Shock and was waived again that same season. Walker was also in camp with San Antonio in 2011 and Washington, where she was waived on May 14th of last year.

Williams is a 6-foot-4 center who earned NJCAA All-American honors in 2008 and 2009 at Chipola Junior College in Marianna, Fla. She is currently averaging 16.7 points per game in Croatia for Novi Zagreb, and has also played professionally in Israel, Serbia, Poland and Greece.

The Connecticut Sun will open its 11th season at Mohegan Sun Arena on Saturday, May 25th, against the New York Liberty at 7 p.m. Season tickets for 2013 are currently on sale, and can be reserved by calling a Sun Ticket Sales Representative at 1.877.SUN.TIXX or by e-mailing the Sun at tickets@connecticutsun.com.
