Evansville Otters News Release

(EVANSVILLE, INDIANA) - The Evansville Otters are excited to announce that Jarrett Gardner will be the team's pitching coach in 2013.

A native of Oklahoma, Gardner comes to the Otters from the Lincoln Saltdogs of the American Association where he was a pitching coach (2010-2012) and a starting pitcher (2007-2009). Gardner also recorded the first no-hitter in Saltdogs history on June 25, 2009. He previously attended the University of Arkansas where he set an NCAA record in 2003 with a 92/5 strikeout to walk ratio and he was also drafted in the 19th round of that year's MLB Draft by the Boston Red Sox.

"I am looking forward to working with Jarrett," said Evansville Otters manager Andy McCauley. "He comes highly recommended as a very organized, hardworking, knowledgeable pitching coach that has organizational as well as independent experience. He will also assist the Otters with signing pitchers for the 2013 season with his background in the American Association and his facility in Oklahoma." Gardner is ready to bring his best to Andy McCauley's staff and the entire Evansville Otters organization.

"Andy has a great reputation in Independent baseball and I have heard nothing but great things about working with him and his teams," said Gardner. "There is not a better owner around than (Otters President) Bill Bussing and no other team can compete historically with what Evansville has in almost 100 years at Bosse Field. I can't wait to be a part of making history."

The Evansville Otters season begins on Friday, May 17th at Historic Bosse Field. The Otters will play host to the Normal CornBelters with Opening Day ceremonies and a 6:35 p.m. CDT scheduled first pitch. Fans can also purchase their season tickets or plan their group outings by calling the Evansville Otters front office staff at (812) 435-8686.
