The Sea Dogs opened the scoring early at 2:54 as all three Newfoundland players connected to get Saint John up in the first. Abbott scored his fourth of the year and second as a Sea Dog, beating Bibeau with a XX. Connor Donaghey won the faceoff and Marcus Cuomo got the puck to Abbott to grab the assists on the play.

Before the halfway point of the period, at 8:55, the game was tied by Beran with his 14th of the year.

Shots in the first were very close, with a 14-13 edge going to Saint John.

Bursey and the Rocket came out hard to open the second, and just 13 seconds in, the Saint John native made it 2-1 with his seventh goal of the season.

Provencher made it 3-1 as the Rocket had a man-advantage just after the middle of the period. He scored his 22nd of the year at 11:02.

As Provencher went to the box late in the second, Anderson made the Rocket pay with his ninth of the season. His backhander beat Bibeau at 18:57 with the assists going to Jurij Repe and Pierre Durepos. It made the game 3-2, as close as the Sea Dogs would come to the win.

PEI had a three goal third period to push past the Dogs, including two in the 17th minute.

Laplante scored the first at 7:39 to make it 4-2.

Despite a late push by the Sea Dogs with Fournier on the bench, the Rocket capitalized twice to seal the victory. Marcotte beat a diving Durepos to the puck and put in the empty netter at 17:26.

Just 26 seconds later, Robichaud tipped home his sixth of the year to make the final 6-2 Rocket.

Saint John returns to Harbour Station Wednesday night to take on the Halifax Mooseheads at 7 p.m. Tickets are available by calling 657-1234, visiting the Harbour Station box office or by heading to tickets.harbourstation.ca .
