Regina Pats News Release

First Period The Blue and White controlled majority of the play in the first five minutes of the opening frame. Their evident speed to the puck forced the Broncos to play in their own end. Dyson Stevenson delivered a clean hockey hit on Reece Scarlett in the offensive zone. Broncos Daniel Dale tried to engage in a tilt with Stephenson, but Stephenson declined the challenge.

With eight-minutes left in the first, Pats Emil Sylvegard received the puck on the rush and fed it to a wide open Connor Gay. Gay's glorious backdoor chance was robbed by the glove of Eetu Laurikainen. The Broncos eventually got on the board when Adam Lowry shot the puck over Sacher's blocker with six-seconds left in the frame. Lowry's goal was assisted by Coda Gordon.

Second Period On a sharp angle, Levi Bews thought he shot the puck upstairs on Sacher, but instead play continued. After an icing whistle, the play went under video review. The footage concluded that Bews' goal did enter the back of the net. The Broncos led 2-0 midway through the second period.

Ouellette and Chandler Stephenson took minors three-seconds apart that gave the Broncos a 5-on-3 powerplay. Jay Merkley was called for hooking, which reduced the Broncos' powerplay to a 4-on-3 with 4:16 left in the frame.

Ouellette and Stephenson stepped out of the box and the Pats had a powerplay of their own for 45-seconds. The Blue and White didn't capitalize, but Lane Scheidl's speed forced Broncos Dillon Heatherington to take a holding penalty. Stephenson scored with 15-seconds left in the second to cut the visitors' lead in half. His powerplay goal was set up by Stevenson and Morgan Klimchuk.

Third Period The crowd at the Brandt Centre was electrified in the third period. Both net-minders made fantastic saves to keep the game close. At the 9:58 mark, the score remained 2-1 in favor of the Broncos. Relentless pressure forced the Broncos to ice the puck and take a timeout with 8:14 left in the game. The Blue and White generated chances late in the third. Sacher was pulled for the extra attacker, but the Pats couldn't find the equalizer. The Broncos held on to win 2-1.
