D-Fenders Enter All-Star Break Following Largest Victory of Season

EL SEGUNDO, CA - The Los Angeles D-Fenders toppled the Reno Bighorns in their largest win of the season, taking a 115-89 contest at Toyota Sports Center on Wednesday night. The D-Fenders previous high for margin of victory was 14 points set back on opening night (11/28/12) against Idaho.

In the third straight meeting between the teams, the D-Fenders fell behind 1-0 just 46 seconds into the game but never trailed afterward, leading by as many as 33 points en route to their fifth win in the past seven contests.

Jumping ahead by the score of 32-24 at the end of the first quarter, the D-Fenders extended their lead to 60-40 at halftime after holding the Bighorns to a 38.1 field goal percentage. While the Bighorns managed to go on a 19-8 run to start the third quarter, the D-Fenders drilled five consecutive three-point shots to put them back up 85-65 at the end of the frame. The D-Fenders then went on a 17-4 to start the fourth quarter, grabbed their largest lead of the night, and finished off the Bighorns to secure the win.

Six players scored in double-figures for Los Angeles (12-17), guided by NBA Development League All-Star Courtney Fortson (game-high 22 points [9-15 FG, 4-6 3FG], 5 rebounds, 5 assists), Elijah Millsap (21 points [7-13FG], 8 rebounds) and Lazar Hayward (18 points, 7 rebounds, 6 assists). In addition, Morris Almond scored 13 points, Ronald Dupree tallied 12 points, five rebounds and five assists, and Zach Andrews dropped in 11 points (5-8 FG), rounding out the D-Fenders with double-digit scoring efforts.

Reno (10-17) was paced by Tajuan Porter (18 points), Dar Tucker (16 points, 8 rebounds) and Desmon Farmer (16 points). Jerome Jordan also chipped in 12 points along with nine rebounds while Samardo Samuels contributed 11 points, eight rebounds and three blocks for the Bighorns.

The D-Fenders will take the weekend off for the NBA D-League All-Star Break before resuming play February 20th on the road against the Santa Cruz Warriors (NBA Affiliate: Golden State Warriors).
