Saginaw Spirit News Release
On Wednesday night at The Dow Event Center, the Saginaw Spirit geared up to play their in-state rivals the Plymouth Whalers. Both teams were searching for the win with the playoffs approaching quickly.
Plymouth Assistant Captain and former Spirit Captain Vince Trocheck made a demanding return to Saginaw when he scored the first two goals of the game. The first was buried just under twelve minutes into the first period and was assisted by Washington Capitals prospect Tom Wilson. Trocheck scored again just over five minutes later, recording his 40th goal this season, with assists from Ryan Hartman and Tom Wilson. The first twenty minutes expired with a 2-0 score in favor of the Whalers.
The second period continued with as much aggressive play as the first. Whalers' winger Matt Mistele converted the first goal of the second period, his 26th goal this season assisted by Sebastian Uvira and Zach Lorentz. To increase the Plymouth lead to 4-0, Sebastian Uvira netted a quick wrist shot with assists from Alex Peters and Austin Levi.
Heading into the third period down 4-0, Spirit Captain and Chicago Blackhawks prospect Garret Ross put Saginaw on the board with a goal off a rebound. His goal came with assists from Steven Strong and Assistant Captain Eric Locke. The Whalers retaliated with the final goal of the game off the stick of Sebastian Uvira who recorded two goals in the game. Uvira's goal was unassisted, and led Plymouth to 5-1 victory over the Saginaw Spirit.
