The Week in Review
The Storm played a home and home against the Kitchener Ranger this past week that potentially could have shaken up the Western Conference standings and given Guelph the opportunity to jump into fourth ahead of the Rangers.
After surrendering an early 1-0 lead on Friday at the Sleeman Centre, the Storm never led again as the visiting Rangers scored three unanswered and added two more late in the third to grab a 5-2 victory.
Friday in Kitchener Garret Sparks was at his best and the visiting Storm put forth an outstanding effort as they knocked off the Rangers 4-3 in a shootout and picked up the ever important two points in the Western Conference playoff race.
Going 1-1 this past week, the Storm currently sit fifth in the Western Conference with 65 points. They are five points behind the Owen Sound Attack for fourth and six behind the Rangers who are in third.
This coming weekend will also have playoff implications as they take on the Attack twice (Wednesday and Friday), the Plymouth Whalers on Saturday and the Kitchener Rangers again on Monday afternoon.
Kosmachuk named Hy-Grade Steel Roofing Player of the Week
The Guelph Storm announced today that forward Scott Kosmachuk is the Hy-Grade Steel Roofing Player of the Week for the week ending Sunday, February 11th.
Kosmachuk picked up three goals this past weekend in a couple of match-ups against the rival Kitchener Rangers. On Wednesday in Guelph, the Toronto native scored the first goal of the night on the powerplay in the Storm's 5-2 loss. Friday night in Kitchener, he was named first star of the game tallying twice in the Storm's 4-3 shoot out victory over the Rangers.
The Winnipeg Jets prospect currently leads the Storm in points with 52, goals with 29 goals and powerplay goals with 10. Kosmachuk has picked up at least one point in 10 of the last 12 games.
Next up, the Storm face another tough week playing a home and home against the Owen Sound Attack on Wednesday, Friday and then hosting the Kitchener Rangers on Monday. Friday night the Storm are at home hosting the Attack for a 7:30pm start. Monday afternoon is the traditional Family Day game when the Storm host the Kitchener Rangers at the Sleeman Centre for a 2:00pm puck drop.

The Storm have an action packed this week with four games against conference rivals. The week ahead could determine where the Storm finishes in the Western Conference and who will get home ice advantage in the playoffs.
The Storm face another tough home and home against the Owen Sound Attack this week. Wednesday night they travel to Owen Sound before hosting the Attack at the Sleeman Centre on Friday at 7:30pm. Saturday, the Storm are off to Plymouth to face off against the Whalers before returning home to host the Kitchener Rangers for the traditional Family Day game on Monday afternoon at 2pm.

Skate with the Storm on Family Day hosted by RBC
RBC is hosting a FREE skate this Family Day - Monday February 18th at the Sleeman Centre after the Storm host the Kitchener Rangers. Members of the Guelph Storm will be on hand and the skate will take place after the game versus the Kitchener Ranger. There will be a number of prizes including an iPad giveaway, Storm tickets and much more. We will also have free hot chocolate available!
