
Dogs End Streak with Victory over Titan

BATHURST, NB - The Saint John Sea Dogs met the Acadie-Bathurst Titan at the KC Irving Regional Centre in Friday's Quebec Major Junior Hockey League action. The Sea Dogs snapped their streak with a 6-4 victory.
Pierre Durepos had four assists and Maxime Villemaire had two goals and an assists to lead the Sea Dogs over the Titan. Alex Fournier registered his first QMJHL win in net with a terrific 43-save performance. Jakub Izacky had a goal and an assist, Michael Abbott had two assists and Andreas Tsogkas tallied his first QMJHL goal in the win. Also scoring for Saint John were Spencer Smallman and Stephen Anderson with Olivier LeBlanc tallying two assists. Saint John climbed to 20-31-1-0 with the victory.
Zach O'Brien had two for Bathurst and Sean Girard and Anthony Gingras had the game tied for a few moments for the Titan. Mason McDonald saw 18:20 of playing time and made six saves on nine shots before giving way to Jacob Brennan. Brennan stopped 24 of 27 in the loss for the Titan. Bathurst fell to 21-28-5-1.

The first period saw the Sea Dogs outshot 13-9, but take a 2-0 lead into the intermission.
Fournier stood his ground to set the stage for two power play goals for the Sea Dogs. Izacky scored at 14:11 to open the scoring, beating Brennan with a rebound goal on a snapshot. Villemaire tallied just 22 seconds later to make it 2-0.
Durepos had assists on both first period goals for Saint John. Abbott and Izacky also assisted on the first period goals.
Just 1:31 into the second Tsogkas registered his first goal in a Sea Dog uniform with an unassisted marker that beat McDonald glove side.
O'Brien made a big effort to get the Titan back into the game, scoring two goals for Bathurst. At 5:08 he scored his first of the game, and tallied his second and 38th of the year at 7:47 as Bathurst was killing a major penalty.
Smallman scored his second of the year with a Saint John man advantage to restore the two-goal Sea Dogs lead at 15:01.
Girard brought the Titan back into the fold with a point blast at 7:14 to make it 4-3.
Just 28 seconds later Gingras made it 4-4 and it was how the period would end.
Two third period goals sealed the win for Saint John. Anderson tallied his 8 th of the year at 8:11 to make it 5-4. Villemaire scored his second of the night and fifth of the year at 11:23 with the Sea Dogs fourth power play goal of the night to make the final 6-4 Sea Dogs.
