Steelheads Riley Brace Sets Franchise Mark

January 24, 2013 - Ontario Hockey League (OHL) - Mississauga Steelheads News Release

Mississauga, ON - Last night's Mississauga Steelheads game marked a special occasion, as the franchise recognized one of their long time team members on an outstanding achievement. On December 9, 2012, Steelheads alternate captain, Riley Brace passed former teammate Jordan Mayer, and set a new record for most regular season games played with the Mississauga franchise with 268. Brace now sits at 283 regular season games played, as well as 42 playoff games. The Woodlawn, Ontario native's gritty style of play and ability to put the puck in the net (coupled with his trademark "stache") have made him a fan favourite over the years in Mississauga.

Steelheads owner Elliott Kerr, and General Manager James Boyd stood alongside members of the Brace family on hand, including his biggest fans Grandma Nelda Wilson, and Grandpa Maurice Wilson, to pay tribute to Riley and present him with a commemorative photo to recognize his achievement and success with the franchise. Brace has been such a valuable member of the Steelheads franchise, a great teammate and a great leader, and the Steelheads are proud to acknowledge his efforts from over the years.

Congratulations again to Riley Brace, the current record holder for most regular season games played with the Mississauga franchise!

The Steelheads are back in action this Friday, January 25th to host the Saginaw Spirit, presented by VIA Rail, in a 7:30pm start at the Hershey Centre. Great tickets are still available online through Ticketmaster or through the Hershey Centre box office.
