Erie Otters News Release

Sarnia, Ont. - Four unanswered goals by the Sarnia Sting in the third period helped the hosts earn a comeback 7-6 win over the visiting Erie Otters Friday night at RBC Centre.

Jimmy McDowell opened up the scoring with a power play goal midway through the first period, his tenth of the season. Bryan Moore tied the game for Sarnia with a shorthanded tally a little over two minutes later.

Dane Fox put the Otters back in front as he finished off a nice feed from J.P. Labardo with a shot that squeaked through the legs of J.P. Anderson for Fox's seventh goal of the season, giving the Otters a 2-1 lead after 20 minutes.

Moore and Anthony DeAngelo answered for the Sting in the second period to give Sarnia a short live 3-2 lead. Connor Crisp tied the game for Erie with his 19th goal of the season at 14:31 on a blistering wrist shot from the left circle. Labardo put Erie in front with 3:31 left in the second period.

Oscar Dansk left the following following the second period, which appeared to be a result of a collision with Sarnia's Reid Boucher that led to a goaltender interference penalty.

The Otters took a two-goal lead midway through the third as Labardo scored his second of the game with 10:52 to play. The Sting then rebounded with four straight goals to take a 7-5 lead, including two tallies by leading OHL goal scorer Boucher.

Crisp scored his second goal of the game with 20.6 seconds remaining to put the Otters within one, but they would not be able to get the equalizer. Labardo led the Otters with a career high of four points.

The Otters continue on the road to Saginaw to play the Spirit Saturday night at 7:11 p.m.. Listen to all the action on Fox Sports Radio AM 1330 The Fan starting at 7:00 p.m. with the Erie Federal Credit Union Pre-Game Show.
