Bagg and Sweed Re-Sign with Riders

January 10, 2013 - Canadian Football League (CFL) Saskatchewan Roughriders

The Saskatchewan Roughriders announced today that non-import receiver Rob Bagg and import receiver Limas Sweed have re-signed with the team. Financial details were not released.

Bagg (6'0 - 190) originally signed with the Riders in 2007 as an undrafted free agent out of Queen's University. In 2012, the Kingston, ON native appeared in just three games totaling nine receptions for 69 yards before missing the remainder of the season due to injury. The 27 year-old has played 52 games over his six seasons with 134 catches for 1,935 yards and eight touchdowns. He was the Riders 2009 nominee as Most Outstanding Canadian.

Sweed (6'4 - 220) spent the last two weeks of the 2012 season on the Riders practice roster after signing with the team in October. Previously, the Navasota, TX native played three seasons with the Pittsburgh Steelers, registering 7 receptions for 69 yards and was a member of the 2009 Super Bowl Champions. The Steelers originally drafted Swede in the 2nd round (53rd overall) of the 2008 NFL Draft out of the University of Texas where he was a two-time Rose Bowl Champion and member of the 2005 BCS National Championship team.
