Butch, McNeal Lead Jam to 102-85 Victory

BAKERSFIELD, January 6, 2013 - Brian Butch (17 points, 16 rebounds) and Jerel McNeal (18 points, 11 assists) each had a double-double Sunday and helped the Bakersfield Jam (10-6) defeat the visiting Iowa Energy (5-9) 102-85.

Bakersfield led 47-42 at halftime and extended their lead to 72-62 to end the third period. In that third quarter, the Jam held the Energy to just 29.6% shooting and outscored them 25-20. Bakersfield then got hot in the final quarter as they made 12 of their 20 field goals attempted (60%) and outscored Iowa 30-23 in the quarter. The Jam outscored the Energy in every quarter and dominated the points in the paint (62-34).

Renaldo Major finished the night with 17 points, three assists and three blocks. Adam Koch tallied 13 points to go along with six rebounds and three blocks. Shan Foster led the Jam off the bench with 12 points, on 4-of-7 shooting from three-point land, and reserve center Chris Cooper contributed 5 points and a season-best 16 rebounds.

Morris Almond led Iowa with 20 points while Quincy Miller (Denver Nuggets assignee) finished with 13 points and nine rebounds. Mustapha Farrakhan posted 10 points and six rebounds.

Both teams will next travel to Reno, NV to take part in the 2013 NBA D-League Showcase (Jan.7-10). The Jam will face the Sioux Falls Skyforce tomorrow Monday, January 7 at 3:30 pm PT and will then play on Wednesday, January 9 at 3:30 pm PT against the Maine Red Claws.
