Portland Trail Blazers Assign Claver and Freeland to NBA D-League Affiliate Idaho Stampede

NEW YORK, Dec. 14, 2012 - The Portland Trail Blazers today assigned Victor Claver and Joel Freeland to the Idaho Stampede, the Blazers' NBA Development League affiliate. The assignments are the 49th and 50th of the 2012-13 NBA and NBA D-League seasons, while the pair is among 34 NBA players to have been assigned to the NBA D-League this season.

Claver (6-9, 224, Valencia, Spain) rejoins Idaho following a two-game assignment last week, when he averaged 11.5 points, 6.5 rebounds and 33.5 minutes. He has appeared in six games for the Trail Blazers this season, scoring a total of five points and grabbing nine rebounds. A member of the Spanish National team who earned a Silver Medal at the 2012 Olympic Games in London, Claver was originally selected by the Blazers in the first round (22nd overall) of the 2009 NBA Draft.

Freeland (6-10, 225, Farnborough College, England) has appeared in 12 games for the Trail Blazers this season, averaging 2.2 points, 1.8 rebounds and 10.2 minutes. Originally selected by Portland in the first round (30th overall) of the 2006 NBA Draft, Freeland's assignment to Idaho is the first of his career.

Claver and Freeland are expected to join the Stampede today and be available tonight when the team hosts the Santa Cruz Warriors in Boise, ID at 9:00 p.m. ET.
