Three-Goal Third Gives Wild Sole Possession of First Place in West Division

WENATCHEE, Wash. - They say goals come in bunches. That wasthe case Friday in the Wenatchee Wild's 3-0 victory over the Jamestown Ironmenat the Town Toyota Center.

After 44 minutes and 45 seconds of scoreless hockey, theWild erupted for three goals over the final 15:15 of regulation to earn avictory that catapulted them back into sole possession of first place in theWest Division.

Max McHugh (Edgewood,Wash.) lit the first lamp of the game Friday 4:45 into the third period on awrist shot from the high slot that was produced on a 3-on-2 chance, whichresulted from a quick transition out of the Wild defensive zone. Noah Nelson (Oconomowoc, Wis.)assisted.

Tyler Bruneteau (Omaha,Neb.) doubled Wenatchee's lead with 9:05 left in the third stanza when hescored his first goal of the season on a 5-hole wrister from the right circle. Josh Hartley (Coquitlam, BritishColumbia) earned the assist.

David Powlowski (Rochester,N.Y.) went on to put the game away with a little over four minutes left inregulation when he scored from the doorstep on a pass from Blake Roubos (Niagara Falls, Ontario), who centered the puck frombehind the Jamestown cage.

With three goals in the net, the only thing left for theWild to do down the stretch was preserve RobertNichols' (Dallas, Texas) shutout bid, which they did. Nichols, who wasnamed the NAHL's Goaltender of the Month for November, stopped all 17 shots hefaced Friday to notch his fifth shutout of the season.

Both teams went 0-for-2 on the power play. Goalie Tim Shaughnessymade 36 saves on 39 shots for Jamestown.

The Wild (18-3-2) will try to sweep the Ironmen Saturday.Faceoff is set for 7:05 p.m.
