Storm win over Windsor

December 7, 2012 - National Basketball League of Canada (NBL Canada) - Windsor Express News Release

SUMMERSIDE, PEI - Mike Helms dropped a team high 23 points, but the Summerside Storm (7-6) had just enough to slow the Windsor Express (3-7), 102-92.

Storm guard, Ralphy Holmes put up a game-high 24 points in his first appearance with Summerside in the win.

The two teams finish their season series with a 2-2 mark, each team going 1-1 at home.

Despite the loss, Windsor's Darren Duncan contributed 22 points, his third straight 20+ point effort since joining the Express, while dishing out a game-high 12 assists.

Greg Surmacz chipped in with his third double-double of the season, throwing down 10 points and grabbing a team-high 13 rebounds.

The game played tight throughout, seeing Windsor trail 46-44 at the half, but entering the fourth quarter tied 76-76.

However, Summerside enjoyed a big game from their bench, who outscored Windsor's 53-28, and caused 22 Express turnovers in the game.

Windsor's newest members made their presence felt; Chris Commons scored 12 points and nabbed 7 rebounds, while Lester Prosper got credit for 8 rebounds and Stefan Bonneau added five points.

Windsor will be back in action on Sunday afternoon, as they travel to Moncton for a battle with the Miracles at 2:00pm Atlantic/1:00pm Eastern.

The Express return home on Friday to face Moncton and Saturday for their first match-up against the Montreal Jazz. Saturday features "Girls Night Out" and dance camp.
