Anchorage, Alaska - The Alaska Aces broke a 1-1 second intermission tie with two third period goals and an empty-netter to defeat the Utah Grizzlies 4-2 Wednesday night at Sullivan Arena.

Alaska (17-5) extended their winning streak to six in the game and their home winning streak to eight after Utah beat them here on October 19. Utah's three-game unbeaten streak (2-0-1-0) ends on the night.

After a scoreless first period, Alaska made it 1-0 with two seconds left on a power-play 1:39 into the second period. However, the Grizzlies took over second period action from there and tied the game 3:16 later at 4:55 as Chris Donovan hammered in his second goal of the year. Assists went to Colin Vock and Gaelan Patterson. The Grizzlies outshot Alaska 17-6 in the second period, but were unable to get anything more past Alaska goaltender Gerald Coleman who improved to 5-0 on the season.

Utah killed an early third period power-play, but a redirection by William Wrenn setup by Montreal Canadien Scott Gomez made it 2-1 7:18 into the frame. Gomez struck again just 3:24 later as he ripped a blast into the Utah net to give Alaska a 3-1 lead.

In the final minutes, Alaska scored an empty-netter before Jimmy Martin held in a puck at the blue line that trickled by Coleman for a goal in his Utah debut.

Utah continues their four-game series Friday from Sullivan Arena. Face-off is scheduled for 9:15 p.m.

The Grizzlies return home Friday, December 14 and Saturday, December 15 to host Alaska. Face-off both nights is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. The 14th is "Pooch on the Pond" where fans are can bring their dogs to the game. The 15th is our Toy Drive and a post-game skate with the team.
