B-Sens Push Past Phantoms, 7-4

GLENS FALLS, N.Y. - The Binghamton Senators paid their first visit of the season to the Glens Falls Civic Center on Friday night, escaping with a 7-4 victory over the Adirondack Phantoms. With the win the B-Sens have now won seven straight games and are 7-2-0-1 in their last ten.

The B-Sens struck first as forward Pat Cannone scored at 3:01 of the first period with an assist from Jakob Silfverberg. Captain Andre Benoit then netted Binghamton's league-leading seventh shorthanded goal of the season at 5:51 with help from Hugh Jessiman, to give the B-Sens a 2-0 advantage.

The Phantoms got on the board at 8:28 courtesy of Rob Bordson. Mike Hoffman reclaimed the two-goal lead for Binghamton with a power play goal at 11:46. Benoit earned his second point of the game with the assist on the goal.

Each team would score once more before the action-packed first period concluded. Phantoms forward Harry Zolnierczyk snuck one past Binghamton goaltender Ben Bishop at 14:11 then Benoit, assisted by Jessiman and Hoffman, netted his second goal of the night and seventh of the season on a power play at 17:02.

The B-Sens carried a 4-2 lead into the second period, but the Phantoms would come back to the tie score as Marc-Andre Bourdon and Zolnierczyk tallied goals at 6:11 and 9:02 respectively.

Mark Stone put Binghamton back on top at 14:31 as his second goal of the season, assisted by David Dziurzynski, put the B-Sens ahead 5-4.

The B-Sens would go on to score a pair of goals in the third period to provide some insurance and ultimately secure win. Derek Grant hit an empty Phantoms net at 18:59 of the period off a feed from Patrick Wiercioch. A mere nine seconds later, Silfverberg scored his second of the night, assisted by Hoffman.

Bishop stopped 44 of 48 shots to earn his third straight victory. Scott Munroe and Cal Heeter split goaltending duties for the Phantoms collectively stopping 23 of 30 shots faced.

The B-Sens will wrap up their weekend at home on Sunday, Dec. 2 as they host the Syracuse Crunch at 5:05 p.m. Tickets are $19 for side and $18 for end seats.
