Two Boise Hawks Named to Short Season All-Star Team

Two members of the 2012 Northwest League East Division champion Boise Hawks squad were named to the Topps/Minor League Baseball Short Season All-Star Team, announced today in St. Petersburg, Fla.
Second-baseman Gioskar Amaya, who was named to the Northwest League All-Star Team, along with first-baseman Dan Vogelbach were members of the nine player team, selected among the top players from the Gulf Coast League, Arizona Rookie League, Northwest League, New York-Penn League, Appalachian League, and Pioneer League.
The Chicago Cubs, the Boise Hawks big league partner, was the lone team with multiple selections to the Short Season All-Star Team.
Amaya was tied for the short-season lead in triples with 12 - setting a new Boise franchise record, while leading the Northwest League with 61 runs scored. The Carabobo, Venezuela native hit .298 on the season with eight home runs and 33 RBI
Vogelbach led all short-season players with 62 RBIs - including 10 home runs and 41 RBI with the Hawks, helping Boise within four outs of the NWL title. The North Fort Meyers, Fla., native hit .322 between his time in the Arizona Rookie League and the NWL.
The Hawks begin the 2013 season on June 14 at Eugene and open the home schedule June 17 vs. Salem-Keizer. Season tickets, group packages, and bonus books are currently available by calling 322-5000.
