
Stamps Mourn Death of Ernie Warlick

The Calgary Stampeder Football Club is mourning the death of Ernie Warlick, who passed away in Williamsville, N.Y., on Nov. 24 at the age of 80.
Warlick, who saw action on both sides of the ball as a tight end and defensive back, played five seasons with the Stampeders (1957-61) and was a three-time West Division all-star. He caught 192 passes for 3,332 yards during his time with the Red and White and scored 16 touchdowns. He twice led the team in catches including in 1959 when he had career bests of 53 receptions for 909 yards.
After his time with the Stampeders, Warlick joined the American Football League's Buffalo Bills and was a four-time Pro Bowl selection. He won AFL championships with the Bills in 1964 and 1965.
Warlick was born in Washington, D.C., and starred in football and basketball at North Carolina Central University.
He is survived by his wife, Louise, three children and five grandchildren.
