Iowa Energy Draft Party to be Held Friday, November 2nd

DES MOINES, IA, October 25, 2012 - The Iowa Energy will host its annual NBA Development League Draft party at Trophy's Sports Bar & Grill (2701 Douglas Avenue, inside of Plaza Lanes) in Des Moines, Iowa on Friday, November 2nd. The draft party will begin at 5:30 PM CST. Fans of all ages are welcome to attend as the Energy will select players live at the party via teleconference with the NBA beginning at 6 PM.

Energy coaches, owners, staff and the High Voltage Dance team will be in attendance as well as prizes including merchandise, autographed gear, and VIP game experiences will be given away during the evening's festivities. Food and drink specials will be available beginning at 5:30 PM.

Iowa currently has a total of eleven picks in this season's Draft following various trades last season. A full list of Energy draft picks are below:

. 1st Round - #9

. 2nd Round - #17 and #25

. 3rd Round - #38, #41 and #48

. 4th Round - #50 and #57

. 5th Round - #73

. 6th Round - #89

. 7th Round - #105

. 8th Round - No pick

The 2012 NBA D-League Draft order is determined based on teams that did not qualify for the previous season's playoffs, in reverse order of record, followed by those teams that did quality for the previous season's playoffs, also in reverse order of record. Based on this format, newly implemented for the 2012-13 season, the Fort Wayne Mad Ants have been awarded the first overall selection.

Following the Mad Ants the draft will go in the following order: Sioux Falls Skyforce, Idaho Stampede, Maine Red Claws, Reno Bighorns, Tulsa 66ers, Rio Grande Valley Vipers, Texas Legends, Iowa Energy, Canton Charge, Bakersfield Jam, Erie BayHawks, Santa Cruz Warriors, Springfield Armor, Austin Toros and Los Angeles D-Fenders.

Each of the NBA D-League's 16 teams will be given one pick in each round. No trades will be permitted during the draft and only players signed to an NBA D-League Standard Player Contract are eligible to be selected.

Prior to the draft, a full list of players returning to the Energy will be released to the public.

Iowa Energy season tickets are now on sale for the 2012-13 season. Single-game tickets will go on sale on Tuesday, Nov. 6, at 10 AM.
