Derek Schoenmakers scored the winner early in the third period, as the Spitfires clipped the Erie Otters 2-1 on Thursday night at the WFCU Centre, earning head coach Bob Boughner his 200th career victory.

The goal came just 42 seconds into the frame, during a seven-minute Windsor power play; the result of Erie defenceman Adam Pelech jumping Patrick Sieloff after the hard-hitting Windsor blueliner caught forward Hayden Hodgson with a thundering, clean hit along the boards.

Kerby Rychel (6) opened the scoring on the same man-advantage at 19:54 of the second period.

Connor McDavid (5) had the Erie goal, marking the ninth-straight game the rookie phenom has tallied at least a point.

Oscar Dansk was outstanding in goal for Erie (2-6-1-1) stopping 45 of the 47 shots he faced. Jaroslav Pavelka made 26 saves in goal for Windsor (5-3-0-3).

The Spits are off to Brampton for a date with the Batallion on Friday night, before a return engagement with the Otters in Erie on Saturday.
