Lake Erie Crushers News Release
Avon, Ohio --The Lake Erie Crushers have released their 2013 Frontier League schedule, and the Crushers will begin the season at home, on Friday, May 17 against the Gateway (Ill.) Grizzlies.
Like last year, there will still be 14 teams in the Frontier League circuit, with the Frontier League Grays taking over the spot previously occupied by the Road Warriors. The Grays will play all road games in the upcoming season, including four separate three game stops at All Pro Freight Stadium.
Altogether, the Crushers will play 54 home games. The schedule includes 11 home stands. Six of those home stands are short, three-gamers, while the other six are scheduled for six games. The Crushers will end the season with a six game home stand, which concludes on Thursday, Sept. 5 against Traverse City (Mich.).
"We are excited about this year's schedule," said Vice President of Business Operations Daniel Helm. "We have 54 home games, the most we have ever had. We believe our fifth year will be the best yet, and this schedule provides us that opportunity."
After hosting the Grizzlies in the opening three game series of the season, the Crushers will then hit the road for six games in eight days, while All Pro Freight Stadium hosts the Mid-American Conference baseball tournament for the second year in a row.
Game times and the 2013 promotional schedule will be announced before the holidays.
The East division is made up of the Lake Erie Crushers, Washington Wild Things, Traverse City Beach Bums, Frontier League Greys, Southern Illinois Miners, Evansville Otters and Florence Freedom. The West division consists of the River City Rascals, Gateway Grizzles, Schaumberg Professional Baseball, Normal CornBelters, Rockford RiverHawks, Windy City ThunderBolts and Joliet Slammers.
