Rox OF Imholte Wins Prestigious NWL Defensive Award

(ST. CLOUD, MINN)- St. Cloud Rox outfielder Phil Imholte has been announced as a Rawlings Finest in the Field award winner for his outstanding defensive play during the 2012 Rox inaugural season.
The award is the Northwoods League version of the Rawlings Gold Glove award that's given out in Major League Baseball. There are only nine total winners of this prestigious Northwoods League award each season, one for each position.
Numerous Northwoods League Alums who have gone on to play Major League Baseball have won the Finest in the Field Award, including Los Angeles Dodgers star Andre Ethier (2002) and Detroit Tigers outfielder Andy Dirks (2006). Rawlings has been recognizing the top defenders in the Northwoods League since 2002 by awarding a special Rawlings baseball glove mounted on an engraved trophy base.
"It's humbling to receive this award. I can't thank the Rox organization, my coaches and teammates enough for helping put me in a position to win this. Playing for the Rox was the best summer of my life and I'll never forget the experience," Imholte said.
Imholte finished the season with an outstanding .991 fielding percentage in 64 games played. During that time he recorded an impressive 104 put-outs with an additional 4 outfield assists.
"Phil is an outstanding defender and it's no surprise to hear that he won an award like this." Rox Field Manager Augie Rodriguez said. "He came to work every day, he's a great person, and he's very deserving of the success he's had."
