Opening Night to Feature Pregame TailgateSeptember 25, 2012 - United States Hockey League (USHL) Dubuque Fighting Saints
Fighting Saints fans of all ages are encouraged to come early to the arena for the tailgate to show their support for the start of the Fighting Saints season. The tailgate will feature food and drinks for sale, including burgers, brats, and hot dogs, as well as soda, water, and beer.
Local rock and roll band Velkroe Sneker will provide music throughout the tailgate. Head Coach and General Manager Jim Montgomery will take the stage to address the crowd around 6:15 p.m. rallying the fans and previewing the season ahead.
A bags tournament will be held during the pregame tailgate, allowing fans to play the popular yard game for a chance to compete in front of a much larger crowd later in the evening. Each team that wins a game in the bags tournament will be entered into a raffle, and two lucky teams will be selected to play bags on the ice in front of the crowd during the second intermission of that night's game. The Fighting Saints will also have the Slapshot Challenge setup outside the arena during the pregame tailgate, allowing fans to take to take their best shot to see how fast they can fire the puck.
After the tailgate, the party will shift inside the Mystique Community Ice Center for the festivities of Opening Night, presented by American Trust, including player introductions, the unveiling of additions to the Hall of Champions, and puck drop on a new season of Fighting Saints hockey. The first 3,000 fans receive a magnetic schedule. Tickets are available for Opening Night by calling 563.583.6880 or by visiting DubuqueFightingSaints.com.
