Tri-City Storm News Release
SIOUX CITY, Iowa - The Storm dropped their final preseason game at the USHL Fall Classic on Friday afternoon to Cedar Rapids 3-0.
Tri-City goaltenders Marcus Due-Boje and Michael Santaguida did their best to keep the Storm in the game, making 19 and 14 saves respectively. But they couldn't break through the Roughrider defense and were held scoreless for the only time during the preseason.
One bright spot for Tri-City throughout the preseason has been the penalty kill, which was a perfect 23-23 during the five exhibition games.
After a scoreless first period, Cedar Rapids broke through in the second with a goal by Andrew Oglevie. They added to their lead in the third with a goal by Corey Petrash and sealed the game with an empty net goal by Riley Bourbonnais.
The Storm kick off the regular season in Dubuque on September 28. Tri-City will have their home opener at the Viaero Event Center on October 5 when they host the Sioux City Musketeers.
Notes: The Storm scratched skaters Grant Opperman, Tayler Munson, Jared Linnell, Jason Cotton and Ryan Ivey. Goaltenders Christian Frey and Johan Mattsson also did not dress for the game.
