Sun Playoffs Set

September 21, 2012 - Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA) Connecticut Sun

UNCASVILLE, Conn. (September 21, 2012) - The Connecticut Sun will begin its bid for a WNBA championship next Thursday, September 27th at Mohegan Sun Arena, hosting the New York Liberty at 8 p.m. in the first round the Eastern Conference playoffs.

Game 2 of this best-of-three series will be at New York on Saturday, September 29th, at 7 p.m. If necessary, Game 3 will be back at Mohegan Sun Arena on Monday, October 1st, at 7 p.m.

At 24-9 with one regular season home game remaining against the Atlanta Dream on Sunday at 5 p.m., the Sun have already clinched the No. 1 seed in the Eastern Conference. The Liberty (14-19) are seeded fourth overall.

Connecticut was 4-1 against the Liberty during the regular season.

Connecticut has one game remaining in the regular season, on Sunday at 5 p.m. at Mohegan Sun Arena against Atlanta. A win over the Dream would give the Sun the second best record in the league, behind the Minnesota Lynx.

The winner of the first round series between the Sun and Liberty will face the winner of the series between No.

2 seeded Indiana and No. 3 seeded Atlanta in the best-of-three Eastern Conference Finals.
