Forward Pistilli Brings AHL Experience to Stingrays

North Charleston, S.C. - The South Carolina Stingrays, celebrating 20 seasons of hockey in the Lowcountry and proud ECHL affiliate of the Boston Bruins of the National Hockey League (NHL), announced today that the team has agreed to terms with forward Matthew Pistilli. In keeping with club policy, terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

Pistilli, 23, spent the last three seasons in the Carolina Hurricanes (NHL) system with the Albany River Rats (AHL), Charlotte Checkers (AHL) and Florida Everblades (ECHL). The Montreal, Quebec, native appeared in 73 games with the Checkers last season netting 12 goals and 13 assists for 25 points and tied for the team lead with three game-winning goals. In 164 career AHL contests, Pistilli buried 52 points (25 goals, 27 assists). With the Everblades, the 6-foot-2, 219-pound forward grabbed 35 points (17 goals, 18 assists) in 38 games. In junior hockey, Pistilli skated with the Shawinigan Cataractes and Gatineau Olympiques of the QMJHL and helped the Olympiques to a QMJHL championship in 2007-08 and received the QMJHL and CHL Humanitarian of the Year award in 2008-09.
