Pensacola, Fla. - Sept. 14, 2012 - The Pensacola Ice Flyers head coach, Gary Graham, has announced the signing of forward Matthew Puntureri for the 2012-13 season.

Puntureri, a 5'11" 190-pound forward, will be joining the Ice Flyers from the Federal Hockey League (FHL). He played 51 games with the New Jersey Outlaws in the 2011-12, scoring 20 goals and recorded 47 assists. In 2010-11, Puntureri played for the New York Aviators where he scored 27 goals and added 40 assists.

"I'm truly honored to have the opportunity to play in Pensacola. I am looking forward to making the Ice Flyers fans very proud on and off the ice," Puntureri declared. "I plan on working hard to bring the fans the President's Cup they deserve."

Puntureri is familiar with the Southern Professional Hockey League (SPHL) as he played two seasons for the Twin City Cyclones prior to playing in the FHL. He played Tier I junior hockey in the Ontario Hockey League (OHL), where he was a first round draft pick of the Guelph Storm.

"Matt gives us a veteran presence up front and will be a big part of our offensive success," Graham commented. "He brings a lot of skill and versatility to our line-up as he excels playing both center and on the wing. Puntureri was a key part of New Jersey's championship team last season, and that championship experience will benefit us deep in this upcoming season."
